How fun it is to relive those good old days through A&E's rerelease of those terrific shows. Once a year, Pasadena, California blocks off a couple of streets and presents a parade of truly staggering beauty. Once a year -- they also allow (albeit not happily) a parade that looks like the Tournament of Roses performed and presented by people you'd probably expect to see on the Gong Show.

The "Doo Dah" is a Pasadena institution. Just to witness the combined synchronized briefcase drill team perform is a treat. And watch for low flying tortillas... Anyway, the loons who present this humorous treat managed to put aside some money to create a video of the highlights of the parade for the year -- in this case, that year was 1986.

Once a year, a bunch of Pasadena drunks -- well, to be fair, these people live a slightly more bohemian lifestyle than some of us -- put on the "Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade." which is about as anti-parade as a parade can get. Anyone from a complete no-talent to... well...  marginally talented folk can probably perform, and certainly lots of people attend this crazed yearly event, usually on the Sunday before Thanksgiving Day.

Thrill to the synchronized briefcase drill team! Stare in awe at the Juggling Chain Saws of Death! Smile benignly at the passing of the King and Queen of the parade. Think of the DOO DAH as the Gong Show presented in the out-of-doors. The Doo Dah -- number 11-- thrilled the audience in Old Town Pasadena on November, 29th of 1987.

CLASSIC TV Sci-Fi

While Twilight Zone was the masterpiece of golden age TV sci-fi, the working class variation of golden age TV sci-fi was "OUTER LIMITS." And like Twilight Zone, Outer Limits has been revived at least once for television. This show, however, is one of the classics. "Moonstone" is the haunting tale of a moon expedition that finds a mysterious rock - a sphere actually - that contains five fugitive aliens. Ruth Roman, stars with Tim O'Conner (Buck Rogers), Alex Nicol, Curt Conway, and Hari Rhodes. Joe Stefano was the series producer (then and now).
