![]() ANGER MANAGEMENT Jack NICHOLSON Adam SANDLER VHS Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson
face off in this bizarre comedy about a
timid businessman (Sandler) who is ordered by the court to undergo
anger management. Unfortunately, his specialist, Dr. Buddy (Nicholson),
is a rather unorthodox in-your-face kind of therapist.

![]() BATTLE OF THE WORLDS Claude Rains Italian Sci-fi VHS Those whacky Italians. Science
fiction gets yet another quirky
treatment with the addition of grumbling scientist Claude Rains in
"Battle of the Worlds." It seems that Mars station is getting a new
planet on their radar (radar?) but investigating spaceships get
slaughtered by flying saucers. Rains and his team of dysfunctional
scientists come to the rescue. Rains is hilarious as an outspoken
scientist who refuses to take any crap from anyone.
VHS VIDEO, COLOR, Approx. 84
minutes, Released thru GoodTimes Home
Video. Not rated. Tape is a previously screened rental.

(Bruce Penhall), Mark Austin (Mark Barriere), and Samantha Maxx

Sadiris R-rated movie tradition of Playmate quality T&A -- Sidaris'
son, Christain Drew Sadiris directed and wrote this one. With Julie K.

![]() JABBERWOCKY Terry Gilliam Michael Palin VHS Monty Python alumnus Terry Gilliam
directs with fellow pythoner Michael
Palin stepping into the lead role as a country bumpkin who meets a
beautiful princess during the very Dark Ages in what can only be
described as a very dark comedy. As with any Python influenced film,
NOTHING is sacred. But everything is funny...

![]() MEAN STREETS Robert DeNero Martin Scorsese VHS The movie that put Martin
Scorsese's name into the filmmaker's lexicon
as a unique style of filmmaking. A small-time hood (Harvey Keitel)
struggles to succeed on the "mean streets" of Little Italy. His
girlfriend (Amy Robinson) is declared unsuitable by "the family"
because of her epilepsy. And then we have the amazing Robert DeNero
playing Johnny Boy, a desperate gambler living on the edge. This movie
is the cinematic birth of the "Scorsese style." Much of what you will
see in this film has been translated into other Scorsese pictures.
Scorsese's singular style helps this low budget movie captivate
audiences with originality and a great story.
MEAN STREETS, VHS VIDEO, 1973, COLOR, 112 MINUTES, RATED R, RELEASED THROUGH Warner Home Video, Previously Viewed. SOLD - no longer available |
![]() PHANTOM FROM SPACE CLASSIC 50s SCI-FI VHS Classic Sci-fi movie stuff from
1953 about a strange space creature
that goes about murdering people. I remember it as one of those
midnight TV movies -- back when TV still ran movies at night. Ah, the
good old days...
VHS VIDEO, B&W, Approx. 73 minutes, Released thru Goodtimes Home Video Corp. Not Rated. Tape has been previously screened (rental). |
![]() RE-ANIMATOR HORROR CLASSIC VHS Actor Jeffrey Combs is brilliant.
He recently tore it up on "Star Trek:
Enterprise" doing more impressive acting in what few scenes he had then
most of the rest of the cast did in two seasons. But his claim to fame
is the "Re-Animator" series of horror films where he plays a new kind
of mad scientist: Doctor Herbert West. The doc has dreams of bringing
dead people and animals back to life, and he succeeds all too well.
RE-ANIMATOR is based on a story by H. P. Lovecraft.
VHS VIDEO, COLOR, Approx. 86 minutes, Released thru Vestron Video. Not Rated - This is the UN-rated edition. Tape has been previously screened (rental). |
![]() THE STRANGER ORSON WELLES CLASSIC VHS This film has such an amazing
history -- much of it the
making of Orson
Welles -- whose career was hanging by a shoestring when Producer Sam
Spiegel (note: he used the acronym S. P. Eagle in the credits!) offered
him the director's chair. While Welles crashed and burned career-wise
(but not because of this film), THE STRANGER remains a fine example of
Welles' genius -- both in front of and behind the cameras.
Under-budgeted Noir film, "THE STRANGER" is a post-war horror story of an evil nazi (Welles) who escapes to small town America under a new identity -- and who eventually marries the daughter (Loretta Young) of a U.S. Supreme Court Justice! (Yikes!). Nazihunter Edward G. Robinson is tracking down the naughty fellow. VHS VIDEO, B&W, Approx. 95 minutes, Released thru Diamond Entertainment Corp. 1946, RKO Radio PIctures, Not Rated. Tape has been previously screened (rental). |
![]() THEY CALL ME TRINITY ITALIAN WESTERN COMEDY VHS Old blue eyes, Terrance Hill (the
skinny guy) and surly bearded Bud
Spencer (the heavy set guy) -- the rakes of the old West -- turn the
Italian Spaghetti western further onto its ear with the classic, "THEY
CALL ME TRINITY." A drifter (Hill) comes to town where his
brother (Spencer) is sheriff. His brother is actually a robber who
broke the real sheriff's leg and left him for dead. Then the plot
thickens...
VHS VIDEO, COLOR, Approx. 110 minutes, 1971, Released thru Video Galleria. Rated G (!). Dubbed into English, of course. Tape has been previously screened (rental). SOLD - no longer available |
![]() ![]() VANISHING POINT 1971 Barry Newman Cleavon Little Dean Jagger It's a generational thing, I guess. "Vanishing Point" made a star of actor Barry Newman and launched the career of Cleavon Little, but many people say the real star of the movie is a 1970 white Dodge Challenger. Released theatrically during the turn of the 1970s, "Vanishing Point" became a cult classic but got little attention in the main stream. It was completed just when 20th Century Fox was changing hands. The older executives didn't understand it -- the new ones couldn't figure out how to market it -- it simply didn't look and play like the old movies they were used to. Director Richard Sarafian molded a spectacular movie -- the center piece being a 4 state car chase -- that has action, stunts, and moments of quiet reflection that represent a time capsule of the era. Barry Newman plays Kowalski, a man down on his luck, who makes a bet that he can ferry a car from Denver, Colorado to San Francisco in 15 hours. Amped up on speed, Kowalski shoots off West and of course soon has every cop in the intermountain West on his tail. It released huge in Europe, mostly because of the incredible wide screen shots of the American Great Basin -- Europeans were fascinated by such wide open spaces. (It explains why so many of them also journey here to travel Route 66, based on re-runs of that TV show.) Do not confuse this terrific movie with that awful Made-for-TV Movie knock-off. This is the real deal. A terrific film that takes you on a wild ride and leaves you wanting more. Though I have to add, it is much more entertaining on a wide screen. VHS VIDEO, COLOR, 99 minutes
