CALENDARS

1940-41 "THE ROYAL VISIT"
CANADIAN CALENDAR

The Royal Visit to Canada, eh? I have a good Canadian friend who slipped this to me from across the border. While I was loathe to even consider auctioning such abominable contraband from "that other country" my greedy capitalist heart simply couldn't resist the prospect. I mean, how often do you come across such aristocratic nonsense as a calendar that follows around a couple of super rich people who do absolutely nothing for their money, except exchange genes? Sorry, was I being rude?

CLASSIC HANNA BARBERA CALENDARS

HB may be long gone as an animation studio -- the house that built and dominated Saturday Morning Cartoons until the early 1980s -- and the house that nurtured one of the last of the true animation cameramen, me. No, I am not kidding. I apprenticed at Yogi Bear's cave on Cahuenga and worked for them off and on for several years. Good times, for the most part.

But the old H-B studio lives on in the video vaults of its one time direct competitor: Warner Brothers. Some of the classic H-B shows even manage to escape from the vault and get air play on Cartoon Network. All this stuff is out of print, therefore classic, therefore rare, therefore shimmering in value to a collector.

Take a gander.
