NO SMALL AFFAIR 1984 Jon Cryer Demi Moore Teen comedy with Cryer as a teen infatuated with slightly older hot babe Moore.

NOBODY'S FOOL 1985 Rosanna Arquette Eric Roberts It is a shame this film never found its audience. Don't confuse this film with the Paul Newman movie of the same title. This is one of those gems that makes you come back again and again.  Rosanna Arquette plays comely confused Cassie Stoolie, a small town girl who hooks up with a traveling L.A. summer theater troop and falls for stage technician Eric Roberts. Shot entirely in and around Prescott, Arizona, "Nobody's Fool" is a minor classic that deserved a better release than it ever got, if it ever got one. Arquette gives an outstanding performance and she and the supporting cast is a joy to watch.

OFF BEAT 1986 Judge Reinhold Meg Tilly Joe Gower (Reinhold) works in the library (on roller skates!?) Adding complication to his otherwise bookish life, Gower agrees to pose as a police officer and participate in a charity dance. He falls for a female officer in the show and gets into various scrapes with fellow cops and also crooks.

OFF THE WALL 1982 Paul Sorvino Rosanna Arquette (From the imdb.com) "Two young hitchhikers are picked up a speed-crazed young woman, who tears around the countryside. She leaves them to take the blame for her activities, and they find themselves sentenced to six months in prison. The girl, feeling bad about what she did to them, resolves to break them out of the prison."

ONE CRAZY SUMMER 1986 John Cusack Curtis Armstrong Demi Moore dir: Savage Steve Holland Another wild Savage Steve Holland film with John Cusack playing his put-upon hero and Demi Moore his love interest. Curtis Armstrong steals every scene he's in and Bobcat Goldthwait screams his lines. This is one whacked movie but great fun. Try to double bill this one with "Better Off Dead" at your video party. ONE NIGHT STAND 1984 (Australia) A movie about teens trying to act like teens while the world is just about to push the nuclear button. The ending is almost as depressing as "On the Beach."

OXFORD BLUES 1984 Rob Lowe Alley Sheedy Amanda Pays Lowe is the fish-out-of-water at Oxford where he gets the hots for royalty (Amanda Pays) and ends up with Alley Sheedy. Hey, unfair!

PARTY ANIMAL 1983 More "Animal House" hyjinks on campus. A pizza and beer movie.

PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE 1974 Paul Williams Gerrit Graham I'll never understand the attraction to Rocky Horror Picture Show when Phantom of the Paradise is a far superior movie.

PHASE 4 1974 Nigel Davenport Michael Murphy Lynne Frederick dir: Saul Bass Director Saul Bass made this moody sci-fi pic about ants taking over the world.

PICASSO TRIGGER 1989 Dona Spier dir. Andy Sadaris Playmate Dona Spier bares lots of skin in this Andy Sidaris outing. It is spies and counterspies and lots of guns (of more than one kind) and bikinis. Yummy.

PORKY'S REVENGE aka "Porky's 3" 1985 Dan Monahan The amazing success of "Porky's" spawned 2 sequels. This is number 3

PORKY'S 2-THE NEXT DAY 1983 Dan Monahan Sort of a "Down South In the Swamp Animal House" if you must know. "Porky's" was a big hit on the theater circuit so they made several sequels. Get your corn here (see the film, you'll get the joke).

PRIME TIME 1980 Warren Oates (TV satire) There were several TV parodies in this time. Remember: Tunnelvision? Kentucky Fried Movie? Groove Tube? PRIME TIME is one of the lesser known films but it contains some really funny bits.

PROTOCAL 1984 Goldie Hawn Chris Sarandon Goldie Hawn really can act and she is very good at playing a ditz, even a fairly smart ditz. Small town transplant ends up the toast of the diplomatic corps and becomes a pawn in a sneaky political ploy. Yes, it's a comedy. Better than it sounds. I also recommend seeing Hawn's recent film titled "The Banger Sisters."

PURPLE RAIN 1984 Prince Apollonia Kotero Morris Day Clarence Williams III Morris Day all but steals the show from moody Prince. Mostly we just want to stare at Apollonia's chest -- or her entire body for that matter. Semi-autobiographical musical that put Prince's star on both the musical and movie map. Fans of his music get an earfull too.

RATINGS GAME 1984 Danny Devito Rhea Perlman When Danny Devito discovers (by accident) that he can control the TV ratings, the whole network he works for goes off the tracks.

RECKLESS 1984 Aidan Quinn Darryl Hannah Aidan Quinn plays the troubled James Dean part and he's not bad. Trapped in a dirty ugly steel town, he only wants out. He finds his love interest in an equally moody Darryl Hannah.

RED BLOODED AMERICAN GIRL 1990 Andrew Stevens Heather Thomas What a terrific movie this would have been had it a better budget and a better script. As it is, the idea's not bad. This biotech company is doing some very illegal experiments on human subjects and genius Andrew Stevens is brought in to bail them out of trouble. It seems this serum they came up with turns people into vampires but their blood lust only makes them consume themselves. Heather Thomas shows her body off very well as one of the victims that Stevens is trying to save.

REPO MAN 1983 Emilio Estevez Harry Dean Stanton Emilio Estevez plays a punk rocker who gets involved with a repo company. Along the way he also gets caught up in a strange alien mystery. A much under-appreciated movie. Harry Dean Stanton is brilliant as an old cynical repo man who mentors Estevez. This film rocks.

REVENGE OF THE NERDS II 1987 Robert Carradine Curtis Armstrong The college nerds are back for another go-around but this silly follow up to the successful first film isn't as good -- EXCEPT for Curtis Armstrong, playing the disgusting character of Booger, who meets his "master" -- played to the disgusting hilt by character actor James Hong. SO FINE 1981 Ryan O'Neal Jack Warden Will anyone ever remember this gem from 1981? If you remember the butt hugging jeans fad on TV, then this movie will put a smile on your face.

SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL 1987 Eric Stoltz Mary Stuart Masterson Lea Thompson Better-than-average teen angst movie about a boy (Stoltz) from the other side of the tracks (literally) who has a hot streak for a rich girl (Thompson) not noticing his closest female friend (Masterson) has an awful crush on him already.

SPACEHUNTER: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone 1983 Peter Strauss Molly Ringwald Peter Strauss gets into serious trouble tracking down a bounty on a very violent planet. Ringwald plays a street urchin -- or should I say planet urchin -- who helps Strauss find his bounty.

SPLASH 1984 Tom Hanks Darryl Hannah John Candy Hanks falls for a mermaid (Hannah) while John Candy yucks it up. Better-than-usual fantasy comedy from the Disney company. And I mean that in the nicest way. Movie trivia moment: I shot part of the opening credits.
